About us
We are a multinational company with 14 years of experience specializing in the dehydration and encapsulation of placentas.
As this practice continues to expand across different regions of the world, our top priority has always been the health and well-being of mothers and their future babies.
Doing things the right way—with the proper safety protocols—has always been essential to us.
In the United States and several European countries, there are numerous companies dedicated to the dehydration and encapsulation of placentas.
The technology we have chosen for this process and product development positions us as leaders in this sector.
Our experience, track record, and optimized techniques have enabled us to expand our services to Spain.
We are a company that combines cutting-edge technology, strict hygiene protocols, full commitment, efficient turnaround times, expert knowledge, and personalized service. All our work is carried out in a laboratory in Madrid, exclusively dedicated to placenta dehydration.
We believe that nature is wise and perfect.
We also believe that with the right technology, we can enhance and innovate upon that perfection.
PLÄSENZ offers a unique option with outstanding results—preserving all the original properties of the placenta with a shelf life of up to 25 years!
We are pioneers in placenta dehydration through lyophilization and are passionate about serving mothers who want the very best from something they have already created so perfectly.

What exactly is
freeze-drying?
At PLÄSENZ, we employ an advanced cold dehydration process known as lyophilization.
This sophisticated technique, esteemed in pharmaceutical, medical, and culinary realms, distinguishes itself by eschewing heat, despite its comparatively higher cost. The result is a product of unparalleled quality, preserving the placenta's intrinsic physicochemical, nutritional, and nutraceutical attributes.
An exceptional facet lies in the enduring excellence of our products, impeccably conserved for up to 25 years.
Lyophilization vs. Dehydration
(sophisticated tecnology)
(traditional drying with heat)
The placenta, in its natural state, is delicately situated upon a stainless steel tray within a freeze dryer, subsequently subjected to congelation at exceptionally low temperatures (-45°C).
Temperature

The precooked (steamed) placenta is arranged on a plastic grid within a conventional dehydration device, exposed to elevated temperatures exceeding 60°C.
Water removal

The freezing chamber initiates the extraction of all air until reaching a high vacuum. Subsequently, the complete removal of water from the placenta commences, transitioning from solid to gaseous state without passing through a liquid state (sublimation).
The water is removed through evaporation caused by the rise in temperature, yet this process will degrade the properties of the placenta, marking the second thermal alteration to which the tissue is subjected.
Encapsulation
The fully desiccated tissue is pulverized and encapsulated, retaining ALL of its ORIGINAL PROPERTIES! With the capability of being stored and preserved in pristine condition for up to 25 years!

The dehydrated placenta is pulverized and encapsulated, resulting in a significant loss of nutrients from its original state. Both its shelf life and safety for consumption are considerably diminished.

It´s important to know...
In Spain, hospitals regard the placenta as a biological waste and take responsibility for its disposal.
However, if requested in writing with sufficient notice, The mother has the right to preserve her placenta!
This practice is supported by the World Health Organization (WHO) and is legally grounded in the Spanish Constitution.
Products
PLÄSENZ offers two options to derive the benefits of the placenta.
The selection between our products does not impact or interfere with the quality or quantity of the other, as they are crafted with distinct segments and components.
Lyophilized placenta Capsules
From the moment of collection to the meticulous processing phase, an unbroken cold chain is meticulously upheld. Following lyophilization, a meticulous process of pulverization and encapsulation ensues, ensuring a prompt return to the mother within the briefest timeframe conceivable.
The volume of capsules is subject to variance, typically ranging between 180 and 240, contingent upon the dimensions of the placenta.
A distinctive numerical identifier (NUI) is systematically allocated to the mother at the initiation of the process, steadfastly accompanying the placenta throughout its entire trajectory – spanning collection, processing, encapsulation, and eventual dispatch. This NUI is also seamlessly integrated into the ultimate iteration of the product, which is impeccably packaged and securely sealed.
Every individual placenta undergoes a stringent processing regimen, impeccably aligning with the most exacting standards of hygiene and sanitation.

Our capsules are exclusively made with HPMC (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose) and do not contain any animal-derived ingredients.
Stem cell
face masks
The mask pack includes 6 doses and an application brush, each meticulously individually packaged in sealed small glass containers.
Each dose should be rehydrated individually at the time of use, allowing the remaining portions to stay sealed and fresh.
Designed for topical application on the face, neck, and décolletage, these masks deliver exceptional skin nutrition through stem cells and intensive hydration.
It's crucial to note that the placental material used by PLÄSENZ for these masks is sourced differently than that used for pill production, ensuring the quality and purity of each product.

"I had a dramatically better postpartum experience than with my first baby.
After my first child, I felt exhausted for weeks. This time, taking my placenta capsules, I noticed a huge difference in my recovery, having more energy, a better mood, and I even slept better. I totally recommend it."
-Laura H., MAD
"It helped me with both milk production and my mood.
Many of my friends had struggled with breastfeeding at first, and it was something I was really nervous about.
Taking my placenta capsules went amazingly well—everything did—but my milk supply was incredible.
Whatever the reason, I was absolutely thrilled with my placenta supplement, and I’d do it again a thousand times over."
-Julia Ruiz., BCN
"The best thing I did for myself postpartum!
The exhaustion, the hormonal changes—everything overwhelmed me at first. The placenta capsules helped me feel more stable and less irritable. It was like a little natural support during such an intense time in my life."
-Nerea V., SEV
"A powerful and natural experience. Deciding to encapsulate my placenta was a way to close the pregnancy cycle with mindfulness. I felt strong, connected, and with a very special sense of self-control.
At first, I was a bit skeptical, but when I saw the number of requirements, the protocols for things that are discarded through testing, and the laboratory where the work is done, I felt I was in the hands of professionals.
For me, it was a very positive experience."
-Sofía C., BCN
"My first experience with motherhood wasn’t exactly a success, so five years later, when I got pregnant again, I decided to do everything differently.
I also chose to encapsulate my placenta, just like thousands of American mothers do.
What a pleasant surprise I had in my first weeks postpartum. Plenty of milk, less emotional downs, super recovery… well, the sleepless nights were tough, but there’s no pill that can fix that. I’m a fan of this new trend, and I hope many moms get to try it."
-Marta R., MAD
"I noticed real changes from the first few days.
I’m not into 'alternative' things, but a friend convinced me. Since I started taking the capsules, I felt less bloated, had more mental clarity, and a sense of well-being that surprised me.
I never thought I’d say this, but if I have more kids, I want my placenta in capsules again."
-Lucia T., MUR
FAQs
Will the hospital release my placenta?
Yes, when communicated in writing with sufficient notice, the hospital is obligated to respect your wish to preserve your placenta. The Spanish Constitution supports freedom of choice in this matter.
How many capsules will I get?
The quantity varies depending on the size of the placenta, but the approximate number of capsules ranges from 180 to 240.
Does it have to be my own placenta?
Yes, PLÄSENZ exclusively processes and delivers placentas belonging to the mother who created it.
Is it possible to encapsulate my placenta in the event of a cesarean section delivery?
Certainly, it is highly recommended, as it will significantly enhance the recovery process. Cesarean sections involve major surgical interventions, and the recovery is a process that can only be positively influenced by the components present in the placenta.
How will my placenta be dehydrated?
Complete water removal is achieved through a state-of-the-art process known as lyophilization, also referred to as freeze-drying technology.
When will i get my capsules?
We strive to dispatch the placenta capsules as promptly as possible. You will receive them, ready for consumption, within 3-5 days from their arrival at the PLÄSENZ laboratory.
When do the placenta capsules expire?
Once again, the advantage of lyophilization stands out. The shelf life, safe for consumption, extends up to 25 years. Some women choose to keep a supply to address hormonal changes experienced during menopause. In contrast, placentas dehydrated with heat have a significantly shorter period for safe consumption.
How can I be certain that the placenta in the capsules sent is indeed my own?
At PLÄSENZ, we process only one placenta at a time. From birth until the capsules are returned, the placenta is consistently accompanied by a unique identification number, which is verified and doble checked at each stage of the process. This eliminates any risks of confusion, contact, or cross contamination.
Is it safe to take with other medication?
Yes. The placenta is a wholly natural remedy. It is not a medication and, therefore, does not interfere with the intake or efficacy of pharmaceuticals.
What sanitary measures are used to ensure the safe preparation of my capsules?
At PLÄSENZ, each placenta is processed individually on food-grade stainless steel surfaces in a sterile environment. All tools and surfaces are cleaned and sterilized in compliance with relevant regulations. Our entire staff is certified with food handling licenses.
What if i want to do cord banking?
Companies collecting umbilical cord tissue typically take only a blood sample and, depending on the company, a small portion of tissue. Following this extraction, the process remains unchanged for shipping to PLÄSENZ.
As it serves as a sort of filter, is it not harmful to ingest the toxins contained in the placenta?
While the placenta is often described as a "filter," its primary role is that of a "facilitator." This remarkable organ is responsible for supplying all vitalities and nutrients to the baby, ensuring that toxins and waste are returned to the mother's bloodstream and not retained in the placenta.
What is the cost of encapsulating my placenta?
Our products start at just 320 euros. We offer various options, packages, and beneficial uses of the tissue obtained from the placenta. Please get in touch with us via the form or email, and we will provide you with the respective price list.
When is it not safe to encapsulate my placenta?
You are not eligible to consume your placenta in any form if you have Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV, and/or Streptococcus type B. These scenarios are ruled out through the tests we request from our clients for added safety.
When do I inform PLÄSENZ to collect the placenta?
Once you have been admitted, please confirm the name of your hospital for scheduling. Subsequently, once your baby is born, contact us again to arrange for the placenta collection.
(This applies only to clients in Madrid; for other regions in Spain, we will utilize express courier delivery.)
How long before my due date should I hire PLÄSENZ services?
Considering that we need to send you the Collection Kit, we recommend having everything ready at least a month and a half before the expected due date to account for any potential early delivery. Many mothers prefer to have it prepared well in advance.
What if i want to delay cord clamping?
There is absolutely no change in the quality of the placenta or its subsequent encapsulation process. In fact, it is a practice that we highly recommend.
How will I know how to do the correct placenta collection procedure?
The kit includes a brochure with detailed instructions to follow step by step and ensure proper completion.
